Ten years ago, on 6 October 2016, Duncan Stanton acquired Lamonde Automation Limited, beginning a new chapter for the established industrial automation distributor. A decade later, there is plenty to celebrate. Under Duncan’s ownership, Lamonde has doubled its staff, built a fleet of vans, attended numerous exhibitions and industry events across the UK, and continued to build its reputation for supplying quality automation products backed by knowledgeable advice and free technical support.

2016 itself was quite a year. The UK had just voted for Brexit, Donald Trump was campaigning to become US President, and Leicester City had stunned football fans everywhere by winning the Premier League after starting the season as 5,000-1 outsiders. Andy Murray won Wimbledon for the second time, successfully defended his Olympic singles title in Rio and finished the year as world number one. And when Duncan took over Lamonde on 6 October, the UK Number One single was James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” - a title that seems rather appropriate ten years later!

During the decade, Lamonde has significantly expanded the range of manufacturers and technologies it can offer customers. New suppliers have included TEKNOKOL, Wera Tools, Nidec Drives, PATLITE, EMAS Electric UK, Teltonika and E.T.A. Enclosures, complementing Lamonde’s established automation brands and enabling the company to offer an increasingly comprehensive range of automation, control, networking, signalling, enclosure and engineering products.  At the same time, regular appearances at exhibitions have allowed the Lamonde team to demonstrate new technology, meet existing customers and develop new relationships throughout the industry.

Much has changed since October 2016 - Britain has left the EU, the world has experienced a global pandemic and industrial automation technology has advanced enormously - but some things at Lamonde have remained constant. Customer service, expert advice and free technical support continue to sit at the heart of the business. Ten years after Duncan took the helm, Lamonde is bigger, has more people, more suppliers and more products, but retains the same focus on supporting its customers. So, borrowing a line from that October 2016 Number One, Lamonde certainly didn’t let go. Here’s to the next ten years!
